Sixth-Annual Deeds Well Done Program Brings Initiative’s Total Donation Amount to $80,0000

MR MIKES® SteakhouseCasual (MR MIKES®) announced it will donate $20,000 to 40 local registered charities across Canada as part of its sixth-annual Deeds Well Done program.

The 2018 recipient of Deeds Well Done in Prince Albert is Teddy Bears Anonymous, a non-profit organization that ensures every child admitted into a hospital across Saskatchewan receives a new teddy bear. All teddy bears are cello-sealed so they may accompany children into the surgery room. As the winning charity, Teddy Bears Anonymous will receive community-wide recognition, a group dinner at their local MR MIKES restaurant and $500 to further support their cause in the community.

Calling on restaurant-goers across the country to nominate charities that make their community a better place, Deeds Well Done collected more than 1,900 nominations from November 19 to December 31, 2018. All winning charities will receive community-wide recognition, a MR MIKES gift card to enjoy a group dinner at their local MR MIKES SteakhouseCasual location and $500 to further support their cause.

Since the initiative’s inception in 2012, Deeds Well Done has cumulatively donated more than $80,000 to over 250 charities throughout British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and Ontario, directly supporting the causes that matter most to Canadians. Winning charities are determined based on the impact they have on the community and their willingness to go above-and-beyond for those most vulnerable and in need. As part of the initiative, guests who nominate a charity will receive a $25 MR MIKES certificate to thank them for their involvement.

“We continue to be blown away by the care and compassion shown by our guests, staff, and charitable organizations in the communities we operate in across Canada,” said Robin Chakrabarti, President, MR MIKES® SteakhouseCasual. “Deeds Well Done provides us with an opportunity to recognize and give back to the people and organizations that make our communities a better place. Deeds Well Done expands into new communities every year, and it is incredible to see this initiative grow and have an even greater impact.”

Throughout the campaign, each location was encouraged to select a local charity to support through an initiative led by the restaurant. Past partnerships have included MR MIKES® Langford hosting a stuffed animal drive for the BC Children’s Hospital, MR MIKES® Fort St. John supporting a local family from the Women’s Shelter with a Christmas Hamper, MR MIKES® Saskatoon collecting food donations for the Saskatoon Food Bank and MR MIKES® Grande Prairie selling items to raise money for Purple With A Purpose to support those living with pancreatic cancer.

MR MIKES® has donated $80,000 in support of Deeds Well Done over the past six years.
