What began as a growing passion, quickly turned into a successful profession for Prince Albert and area photographer Jasmin Blais.

“I enjoy meeting new people and having them put their trust in me to capture the special moments in their lives is most definitely a highlight of what I do,” she said.

Blais started dabbling in photography in 2012. She said part of her success over the years has been thanks, in part, to collaborating with other photographers and professionals within the city and the province.

“We have so many great photographers here. I think a great thing happening is the ‘community over competition’ mentality,” Blais said. “I really believe that’s allowing everyone to thrive in this business.”

Community over competition encourages relationships before opportunities; to support, rather than compete. Blais said building relationships is important in every aspect of her business.

She explained, “I really try to break down walls to try and have my clients as comfortable and as natural as possible because I want it to be an experience for them…rather than just having their picture taken.”

Blais enjoys taking family, maternity and newborn photos and of course, the wedding season.

“It is all so different. I like the challenge of having so many aspects to shoot.”

JC Photography takes home the awards for Best Photographer and Best Baby & Wedding Photographer of 2017.

“The BOBs are great for supporting local businesses and I am grateful to be a part of it.”
