Trojans move to top of the SMAAAHL ranks by beating Mintos

The Prince Albert Mintos fell two goals short to upending the now top-ranked Tisdale Trojans on the road, losing 4-2 at the RECplex in Tisdale.

With the victory, the Trojans jumped up to first place in the Saskatchewan Midget AAA Hockey League with a 26-3-2-1 record. The Mintos are currently in fifth place with a 16-15-0-1 record.

Trojans’ Kalen Ukrainetz broke the 2-2 deadlock midway through the third period for the eventual game winner. Colby Vranai scored the empty netter with 31 seconds left.

Chase Bertholet scored both of the Mintos goals, giving them a 2-0 lead in the first period.
