Final crop report shows high quality but some reduced yields

Nov 8, 2018 | 10:57 AM

Despite the tough harvest conditions this fall, producers were able to pull off average to above-average crop quality overall, according to the final crop report of 2018 from Saskatchewan Agriculture.

Warm and sunny weather in mid-to-late October allowed producers to get nearly all of the job done.

Snow and rain in early November is however delaying the harvest of the remaining crops such as flax and oats. The report stated producers hope to be back combining once the weather improves.

Overall provincial yields are about par with the 10-year average, although many areas are reporting higher-than-expected yields thanks to timely rain.
