Fundraisers set up to help families after P.A. triple homicide

As the unsettling news of last weekend’s triple-homicide continues to sink in for the community, financial support has been pouring in for the families of the victims.

According to police, the bodies of two adults and a seven-year-old boy were found late Sunday afternoon at a home in the 300 block of MacArthur Drive. Another child, a five-year-old girl, was rushed to hospital in Edmonton, where she remains in stable condition.

A relative told paNOW the two adult victims, both 56, are the grandparents of the young children. Sandra Henry and Denis Carrier, who were married , and had met in junior high, according to Sherry McLennan, Henry’s cousin.

“He created the most amazing decorations and always had his house decorated for every holiday,” – _{Claudette Mooney, referring to her cousin Denis.}

McLennan created a fundraiser on Facebook titled “Funeral costs for the McArthur Drive tragedy.” She said Henry loved her job, loved her own sons, and was a great grandma.

“My fondest memory of my cuz was when we would go to their house on 13th Street and just have a good old time. My cuz. I will miss you saying , ‘Hi Sherry Anne’ when in the Co-op,” she posted.

McLennan explained the reason she was raising money was to help the immediate family during this difficult time.

“We can still come together at times of tragedy and pull together as a family and help each other out. I do not know the details. All I know is if I can help somehow I will,” she said.

Claudette Mooney is Denis Carrier’s cousin and told paNOW she received a phone call around 10:30 p.m. Sunday night from her son who is close with one of the couple’s sons.

“I literally felt like I was trying to fight my way out of a horrific nightmare. I still feel like it’s a bad dream and that I’m going to wake up and it’ll be gone,” she said.

Mooney explained she and Denis had a special “twin cousins” connection, as both had suffered the loss of twin siblings.

“Denis would literally give you the shirt off his back. He was a burley quiet guy that loved to work in his shop. He created the most amazing decorations and always had his house decorated for every holiday,” Mooney said. “Sunday afternoon I texted Denis and told him that there was something big happening on his street and to keep me posted. Sadly, I will never get an update from him.”

Mooney also knew Henry quite well and described her as being one of the kindest people you’ve ever met, and always had a big smile on her face.

Carrier and Henry had three sons, and through work, LeeAnn Towriss has known the oldest brother Denis Carrier Jr for eight years, and explained she felt compelled to help when she heard the news.

Towriss’s gofundme page has raised over $1,200. She explained Denis was very close with both his parents and his niece and nephew.

“He went over to their place as much as he could and would do anything an uncle would do with his niece and nephew, play with them, and spoil them,” she said. “He liked to build a lot of stuff with his dad and was always talking about building a shed or a garage.”

As per a previous article by paNOW, a gofundme page has also been set up for the mother of the two children. As of Tuesday afternoon, the online fundraiser has raised over $10,000. Prince Albert Police have not released the causes of death, and charges are pending against a lone male suspect who was arrested Tuesday afternoon.
