ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease) FUNDRAISER WALK 2011

Dear Friends and Supporters:

Do you know what ALS stands for?
Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease:
A fatal neurodegenerative disease. People living with the disease become progressively paralyzed due to degeneration of the upper and lower motor neurons in the brain and spinal cord. Eighty per cent of people with ALS die within two to five years of diagnosis– unable to breathe or swallow. Ten per cent of those affected may live for 10 years or longer.

This is our 7th Annual Fundraiser for ALS. We are looking for support, sponsors and donations from anyone who would like to help us.

We will be selling raffle tickets for $1.00 each.
1st prize is $500 cash donated by the Peterson and Travis families in memory of Joanne Peterson
2nd Prize is a “framed print: Renoir Tulips”, valued at $200; donated by Christina Thoen of Christina’s Framing and Art Gallery
3rd Prize is a Photo Shoot valued at $150; donated by Beverly Skotheim

Our event is planned for Saturday, May 28th at Messiah Lutheran Church; 1796 15th Ave East.
Our day will have the following activities:
- Pancake Breakfast 8:00 a.m.-noon
- Walk-a-thon registration 10:00 am
- Walk to start at 11:00 am. Walking distances are 3 or 6 kms
- Silent Auction, Chinese Auction, Raffle
- Sponsors names will be acknowledged and will be displayed on a sponsorship board.
We have pledge forms and tickets available now for anyone who is interested in becoming involved in our fundraiser.
The support from our community and surrounding communities in the past has been great and we hope you will support us.

The ALS money that is raised here in Saskatchewan:
- 60% is spent on patient needs here in the province
- 40% is spent on research and administration.
