Release of the revised Family Literacy Standards
In celebration of International Literacy Day, the Saskatchewan Literacy Network is pleased to announce the release of the updated Family Literacy Standards.

Building on the good work of the original document produced in 2000, and adding input from the field of family literacy, we are pleased to present the new version of the Family Literacy Standards.

Although organizations delivering family literacy are as diverse as the communities they serve, the Family Literacy Standards are rooted in our collective understanding of what it means to be effective in family literacy practice. It is our hope that this publication will:

guide sound practice;
encourage high quality family literacy programming;
provide a base for program credibility;
assist with evaluation of family literacy programs; and
promote professionalism in the field of family literacy.

With the support of the Provincial Library and Literacy office, Ministry of Education, Government of Saskatchewan and Postmedia Raise-a-Reader sponsored by The StarPhoenix and Leader-Post we are pleased to offer you a copy free of charge.

Download your electronic copy today from our website http://www.sk.literacy.ca/ or contact our office through email, saskliteracy@sk.literacy.ca or by phone, 1-888-511-2111, to order the print version.

Raise-a-Reader Applications
We invite your organization to apply for funding from the 2013 Leader-Post or The StarPhoenix Raise-a-Reader campaign. The purpose of the Raise-a-Reader program is to raise funds and awareness to support family literacy programs and initiatives in Saskatchewan. Numerous events are held throughout the year to raise money for Raise-a-Reader and on Wednesday, September 25th, we celebrate Raise-a-Reader Day in support of literacy.

We are circulating this survey to our networks to gather your input. Your feedback from this survey will be used to inform the communication tools and resources that will be developed for the pre-release of the PIAAC data.
