Meetings of the PASGS are held at 7:30 pm on the second Tuesday of each month, except June, July, August and December.  (We have social events in June and December.)  We meet in the Optimist Building in the Lions Club Room under the Grand Stand on the Prince Albert Exhibition Grounds.

Our purpose is:

·         To collect and preserve historical and genealogical data.

·         To foster the study of family history.

Our members are valuable resources who can help guide you as you research your

ancestry.  Our purpose is to collect and preserve historical and genealogical data.  We collect and digitize birth, death and marriage data from local newspapers– current and past as well as collecting cemetery records.  We encourage the publication of family

histories and the depositing of these and other genealogical materials at the SGS  Archives. We encourage the practice of ethical and sourced research.

Genealogy is:

The study of the descent of families and persons from an ancestor or ancestors, using actual or primary sources and compilation of the material onto pedigree charts.

Family History is:

An extension of genealogy, placing family members in their historical, geographical, social and occupational contexts. It describes their activities and the lives they lived, and includes the study of historical, social and economic conditions of the era in which they lived.
