Parkland Ambulance advises caution after accident-heavy weekend

Paramedics from Parkland Ambulance responded to 113 incidents over the Family Day long weekend, including eight motor vehicle accidents.

On Feb. 17, paramedics responded to a single-vehicle accident on Highway 120 north of Meath Park. A 75-year-old male was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Yesterday, Parkland Ambulance responded to a collision on Highway 55 at the entrance to Little Red River Park. A 24-year-old male was injured in the collision, and transported to hospital.

Parkland Ambulance Spokesperson Lyle Karasiuk said winter driving conditions can change quickly, and advised residents to check road conditions before travelling and always wear a seat belt. Karasiuk also advised keeping a charged cell phone, safety kit, shovel and good winter clothing in vehicles during the winter months.
