Cordially invite you to join the discussion:
MOVING FORWARD ON HEALTHY, ACTIVE KIDS!
A Provincial Forum on achieving healthy weights in Saskatchewan

SAVE THE DATE!
When? Thursday June 19, 2014 (5-7pm) & Friday June 20, 2014 (8:30 am – 4pm)

Where? Le Relais Community Centre & The University of Saskatchewan (PAC) – Saskatoon, SK

Why? Now is the time! Across Canada rates of childhood overweight and obesity have been steadily on the rise, and Saskatchewan is no exception. Nevertheless, several province-wide initiatives are currently working toward addressing the epidemic of childhood obesity with demonstrated success, positive solutions and concrete interventions.

What? Four provincial health promotion groups – Healthy Start, Health Promoting Schools Program, MEND, and Saskatchewan in motion – decided to open dialogue among key actors on forging and expanding collaborations in health promotion – to create greater opportunity for healthy active children, youth and their families. Through the use of a keynote address, panel sessions, and breakout/discussion groups, the forum will focus on informing concrete actions for stronger partnerships aligned with provincial strategies and priorities.
Our main objectives include:

• Exploring synergies for greater impact on the health of children, youth, and families
• Advancing the province’s priority of a 5% reduction in childhood obesity
• Assessing long-term sustainability and funding opportunities for healthy weights initiatives in the future in Saskatchewan.

Who? The Health Promotion Forum seeks to bring together key stakeholders and decision makers involved in the health promotion of our children. Please do not hesitate to forward or share in your networks.
