Saskatchewan Recreation Policy
Dale Measner, Sport and Recreation Policy Analyst, Ministry of Parks, Culture and Sport
Topic Summary: Mr. Measner will update northerners on the Saskatchewan Recreation Sector Policy
Development process which will be followed by a question and answer period. The Recreation Policy is a critical
guiding document outlining Saskatchewan's future direction in recreation with Saskatchewan Parks and
Recreation Association and all citizens of Saskatchewan.
Northern Action Plan
Napoleon ‘Nap’ Gardiner with the Northern Action Plan
Topic Summary: Fueled, in part, by the unfortunate suicides of many young people, the Northern Action Plan
was created in 2010 to enhance activity in dealing with the north’s lingering socioeconomic challenges. Guided
by a Northern Leaders Table, the Northern Action Plan will work to enable and action collaborative social
development strategies.
Recreation North – Creating the Future Key Note
Creative Workplace Consultants and Process Coaches Dr. Bill and Susan Brooks from Eclecthink
Topic Summary: This keynote workshop uses creative thinking APPS to explore what make recreation programs
in the North a vital cultural component and how to do more of the great work already underway. Link to

Northern Community & School Recreation Coordinator Program (NC&SRCP)
Brandy Smart Program Manager of the NC&SRCP from the Northern Sport, Recreation and Culture District
Topic Summary: Brandy will summarize the key aspects of this exciting and unique program that provides sport,culture and recreation programming during afterschool, evenings and weekends in northern Saskatchewan communities. New sites are being added to the program across the north and this will be announced too.
Lunch and Announcements – Lunch is provided and important north-wide program
announcements made on the Northern Saskatchewan Sport, Culture and Recreation Festival
and the Saskatchewan Summer Games in Meadow Lake.
