9th Annual Northern Lights Bluegrass and Old Tyme Music Festival

COME ONE, COME ALL

From a Colorado bluegrass explosion to a tasty Texas-Mexican groove to young Toronto-grown talent to an innovative Francophone sound to excellent music from our own backyard, along with so much more – the 9th Annual Northern Lights Bluegrass and Old Tyme Music Festival has it all.

While our non-profit society exists to preserve and promote bluegrass and old time music in Saskatchewan, our lineup encompasses a lot more diversity than you might think! The 9th annual mainstage includes fabulous US bluegrass with Jeff Scroggins and Colorado, true prairie old time with western Canada’s own fiddle sensation Calvin Vollrath, rounded out with traditional acoustic music that will get your toes tapping including Quebec’s Le Vent du Nord and Los Texmaniacs who are coming all the way from Texas. We are really excited about the Texans – their musical genre is conjunto and these guys have won a Grammy, so we know it will be good!!!

The talent runs deep with our other fantastic acts:
 The Slocan Ramblers – bringing a fresh sound from their local Toronto
pub beginnings, this band has something for everyone
 The Cumberland Brothers – specializing in brother harmony style
country music
 Ryan Boldt – the front man for Saskatoon’s The Deep Dark Woods, he
will be performing originals as well as gospel and traditional songs
 Freddie and Sheila Pelletier – a seasoned SK performance duo who
deliver fun performances featuring clogging and world class guitar picking
 The Grid Pickers – from the deep backwoods of rural Saskatchewan, this pair has made a bold entrance into the Canadian folk scene
 Some fantastic “Tweener” acts – largely up-and-coming local talent

And it all starts the week prior with our annual music camp when we bring in several mainstage acts early to teach students of all ages and skill levels. This year we are pleased to announce that our registration is nearly at capacity and we have more participants registered for the earlybird deadline than ever before. Well over 100 music campers will be learning to play or improve their playing.

So come out to enjoy beautiful Ness Creek with us this August!
