Jessy’s Garden Begins a New Season

May 17, 2012 | 10:05 AM

We are at the beginning of a new season & Jessy's Garden continues to grow. Karen we have been so blessed with the communities support, this year we will be planting about 5 acres.

The demand is growing, with the high grocery prices & organic becoming the norm, we plan on doubling our numbers this year. Last year we met over 100 new faces & served over 1000 families throughout the season.

We are in need of volunteers for planting & also large equipment to clear more land & trees.

Special thanks to Lori Wykes & George Macdonald for donating land, seeds & so much time to help in getting Jessy's Garden ready for this year.

Over the fall we had a basement wall wash out & our home has to be torn down, our new home arrived yesterday so things are very busy here. We are trying to plant the gardens & establish new living arrangements. No worries here, we will be ready to start early harvest in July again & continue until we are picked out in Oct.

This year we are trying a few new veggies & a much better potato seed which should yield us a larger crop for more little bellies.

We are looking forward to meeting new pickers & welcome back our past pickers.

Thank-You Prince Albert & area for making Jessy's Garden a community name.
