Six-time Grammy Award winner Art Garfunkel has cancelled his upcoming concert this fall in Prince Albert.

The concert was to have coincided with the inaugural Arts Walk of Fame gala on Sept. 26. Garfunkel will not be unable to go ahead with the show at the E.A. Rawlinson Centre due to scheduling conflicts.

Darren McCaffrey, general manager of the E.A. Rawlinson Centre said there was a change in Garfunkel’s touring schedule which meant he couldn’t fit the Prince Albert date in.

As a result of the change, Prince Albert would have been a little out of the way, McCaffrey said.

The E.A. Rawlinson Centre is offering full refunds to anyone who bought a ticket, and a date for a rescheduled concert has not yet been picked out.

McCaffrey said that if it is rescheduled, the concert would likely happen in the new year.

The Arts Walk of Fame gala event will now also take on a more local character with performances from Prince Albert artists, E.A. Rawlinson Centre marketing director Linda Jensen said.

“The emphasis will be on the inductees through, you know, various art forms.”

Garfunkel is best known for being one half of folk duo Simon and Garfunkel. They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1990.

Among Simon and Garfunkel’s most famous songs are “Mrs. Robinson,” “The Sound of Silence,” and “Bridge Over Troubled Water.”

To get a refund, call the E.A. Rawlinson Centre's box office at (306) 765-1270.
