Country North Band

Barry Mihilewicz is very excited to be producing the Country North Show this year. Barry’s involvement with the show began in 1983 as a member of The Adams Brothers Band. He was the sound engineer for several shows in the 80’s and 90’s. In 2010, Barry once again took over responsibility for all the sound, lighting and video, working closely with the show’s producer, Paul Lomheim. Barry also appeared as a solo singer in last year’s show.
Barry brings a new vision to the Country North Show. This year there will be two separate shows each night. The Classic Country North Show will feature traditional country music, while the late show will feature more contemporary music for the young and young-at-heart. Barry is very excited about the quality of talent in this year’s show, which features a mix of young and old, veteran singers and first-timers.

Dennis Adams is a multi-talented musician, singer and longtime member of the band, “Misdeal”. A regular fixture on the Country North stage, Dennis has been involved with the show for more than thirty years, including several times as Producer.

Dean Kushneryk’s earliest memories of the Prince Albert Winter Festival were of watching his father, John’s legendary exploits as the perennial winner of the Old Time Fiddling Contest. It wasn’t long before Dean was making his own mark as a musician, touring extensively throughout Canada. An SCMA award-winning drummer, Dean once again adds his solid playing style to this year’s Country North Show Band.

Mick Gratias is a much sought after session musician who has also toured throughout Western Canada. Over the years, Mick has been a perennial member of the Country North Show band, showing his versatility on keyboards and bass guitar. This year Mick’s stellar bass anchors the rhythm section along with “Misdeal” band mate Dean Kushneryk’s drumming.

Mike Langlois holds an Associate diploma from the Royal Conservatory in Toronto and Licentiate and Fellowship diplomas from Trinity College in London in piano performance. He fronts “The Jazz Guise” as vocalist and pianist, and “Coffee or Scotch?” as vocalist, guitarist and keyboardist. He also plays lead guitar for Ashley St. Denis and Back 40.

Boyd Faulconer is an award winning guitar and bass player. No stranger to the Prince Albert country music scene, Boyd has played in numerous Country North Shows over the past three decades. Prior to that, Boyd toured extensively throughout Canada, the U.S., and parts of Europe with various artists. Boyd teaches guitar at PA Music Centre and plays guitar with several bands in Prince Albert.

Dean Bernier wears many hats in the Prince Albert community. Currently, he is teaching school at Rivier Academy, teaching private & group lessons with Bernier Music, conducts the Prince Albert Strings Orchestra, and performs with various local bands. He is a board member with the P.A. Exhibition Association, and continues to raise and train workhorses.

Jim and Brenda Chute are legends in the Saskatchewan country music scene. Together and individually, they have won countless SCMA awards, including the prestigious “Legends and Legacy Award”, which Jim received in 2002, and Brenda in 2010. Jim has appeared no less than 7 times at the Grand Ole’ Opry in Nashville, and Brenda was a regular cast member of the CTV show, “Number One West”. Jim and Brenda have each had charted songs on Canadian radio. Jim and Brenda are very excited to return to the Country North Show stage as hosts of the Classic Country North show.

Bernice Villeneuve has been around music as long as she can remember. She often dreamed of singing on the Country North Stage. Recently a near death experience made her realize that life was too short to not follow your dreams, so she auditioned, and now she is “singing in a show that has meant the world to me since I was a child”.

Carmen Robertson hails from Kinistino. He moved to Prince Albert in 1985. Carmen has been singing country music since he was very young, and has played in numerous local bands over the years, including the Bullit Band, Silverado and Close Enough for Country. He has appeared in several Country North Shows, most recently in 2008.

Rob Munro has a powerful voice and a stage presence to match. Rob spent ten years playing across Canada before settling in Prince Albert. He made his Country North Show debut last year, and we are thrilled to have him back. Rob and his band, 2 Stroke Johnson, have a new album coming out in May.
