Oct 23, 2011 | 5:09 PM

Council of Canadians – Saskatchewan representative, Rick Sawa was recently in Montreal meeting with the national board. While there, Sawa  and others from the group went to support OccupyMontreal.

“There are at least 100 tents and many people, mainly young, peacefully hanging out, speaking, chanting, drumming, cooking and eating-most impressive,” says Sawa.

Occupy Montreal is an offshoot of the  Occupation of  Wall Street in New York City. It is one of several events taking place across the globe.

The movement  focuses on problems in the current political and economic system, and at the growing disparity between the masses and elites.
