Chakam Graduation

Mar 15, 2012 | 8:20 AM

The 2012 Graduation Exercises for CHAKAM School of the Bible were held on March 11th, 2012 at its sub-campus at the ROC Church in Regina.

The event, as part of the regular Sunday morning service at the ROC Church, was attended by several hundred people, and was followed by an ordination service.

In his remarks, Dr. John Fryters, President/CEO of CHAKAM School of the Bible, a Private Vocational School registered with Saskatchewan Advanced Education, Employment and Immigration, reminded the students and guests present of the prophetic words which were spoken over CHAKAM when it was still in its infancy (i.e. prior to becoming officially incorporated) in 2001, more than 10 years ago.

These words spoke of an “apostolic” call which eventually would result in a presence all the world. Since then, the college has established sub-campuses in Canada, Peru, Uganda, South Sudan and Ghana. In June of this year, the establishment of a possible sub-campus in Haiti is being contemplated. Other countries which have requested consideration include Tanzania, Kenya and Cuba.

Fryters also stated that its Distance Division, headquartered in Prince Albert, has currently students all over Canada as well as in Peru, Uganda, South Sudan and Thailand.

Keynote speaker at the ordination following the graduation, Pastor Peter Nash of Sylvan Lake, Alberta, summed it up rather nicely, “The Apostle James in James 2:20&26 said that 'faith without works is dead'. CHAKAM's establishment of the various sub-campuses across the world is 'faith in action'”.

Kelly Larwood from Regina received her Diploma in Biblical Studies at the ceremony while, in absentia, Ron Kolosky from Calgary also received his Diploma in Biblical Studies and Bill Massier from Winnipeg Beach received his Certificate in Biblical Studies.

Dr. Fryters, noting that Kelly Larwood took more than 5 years to complete her Diploma in Biblical Studies (with a Counselling emphasis), explained that “studying by distance in a legitimate school is not an easy task”. He said that, in its short history, Larwood was one of the best distance education students CHAKAM ever had.
