Summer Injury Prevention Assistant Coordinator – Saskatchewan
May – Aug 2014 – 35 hours / week
Located out of Prince Albert, Saskatchewan

SUMMARY: Assists in promoting, establishes, coordinates and ensures effective delivery of the Red Cross Water Safety and Injury Prevention program.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Assist the Prince Albert and Area Outreach Coordinator with all Injury Prevention activities. Main focus will be promoting Water Safety training and increasing Water Safety awareness in rural and remote First Nations communities.
• Acquire Red Cross Babysitter Training Facilitator status and deliver Red Cross Babysitting classes in the Prince Albert and Saskatoon offices and other locations. Training provided free-of-charge to successful applicant.
• Review and revise as necessary, organize and implement Injury Prevention and Preparedness activities and presentations. These presentations will take place in Saskatchewan First Nations and Aboriginal communities, schools as well as Provincial and Regional Parks.
• Promote National Water Safety week, National Lifejacket day water safety campaigns.
• Maintain ongoing records and a final evaluation report of the presentations and programs offered.
• In the event of a disaster, the Summer Injury Prevention Assistance Coordinator may be required to assist Disaster Management team. Duties will be determined at the time by the supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Must be enrolled for 2014-2015 session in a post secondary educational institution preferably in the area of Kinesiology, Recreation, Education or Administration.
• Canadian Red Cross Society Water Safety training and knowledge is an asset.
• Must have excellent oral and written communication skills
• Knowledge of basic computer use is necessary.
• Current Saskatchewan driver’s license is required.
• First Aid / CPR certification an asset but if not, will be provided free-of-charge to the successful applicant.
• Ability to accommodate a flexible work week if required.
• Ability to independently (after orientation) plan, deliver and report on activities.
• This position is subject to a successful criminal record check.
