P.A. gymnast soars at nationals

Prince Albert’s Brent Ertman has returned home from a national gymnastics competition with a few more medals for his trophy case.

Ertman won two bronze medals and a silver at the 2018 Canadian Championships in Trampoline Gymnastics held in Lethbridge July 4 to July 8. Ertman said he was almost forced to withdraw from the competition after he cut his foot during preliminaries and had to have it glued back together.

“It was very uncomfortable because it was right on the side of my foot. When I ran I was concerned about it splitting open,” he said.

Ertman competed in the level six men’s category and won silver in the double mini-trampoline event, bronze in tumbling, and the second bronze as part of Team Saskatchewan’s overall finish at the event. Ertman will not have much time to rest as he will compete this month at the World Cup in Portugal, where his sights are set on even more hardware.
