UPDATE: One suspect arrested, police searching for second after Shellbrook robbery

Police have arrested Matthew Lafond, but continue to search for Keith Stonechild.

Lafond was arrested this afternoon and is set to appear in provincial court in Ahtahkakoop First Nation tomorrow morning at 10 a.m. 

 

 

Warrants are out for two men who are facing charges after a robbery investigation in Shellbrook.

The incident happened in April at a business on Service Road in Shellbrook.

According to police, two men entered the business before midnight on April 27. With firearms, they both allegedly demanded cash before fleeing with an undisclosed amount of money.

Keith Stonechild, born 1989, is charged with robbery with a firearm, robbery, wearing a mask with intent to commit a crime, carrying a weapon for the purpose of committing an offence, using a firearm to commit an indictable offence, pointing a firearm and careless use of a firearm.

Matthew Lafond, born 1989, is charged with robbery with a firearm, robbery, wearing a mask with intent to commit a crime, carrying a weapon for the purpose of committing an offence, using a firearm to commit an indictable offence, pointing a firearm and careless use of a firearm.

Police are seeking the public’s assistance in locating the two individuals. Both are known to frequent Mistawasis First Nation and Muskeg Lake Cree Nation, but police say it is not known whether the men are at either location.

You are urged to contact police or Crime Stoppers if you have any information and advised not to approach either suspect as they may be armed.
