P.A. police recover property, seize weapons

Prince Albert police were kept busy this weekend recovering stolen property, catching alleged thieves and seizing weapons.

On Saturday, just after 3 p.m., officers were told of a vehicle driving erratically. A search of the license plate provided found the vehicle was reported stolen in Saskatoon.

Officers located the vehicle in the Carlton Park Apartments parking lot. The two occupants were arrested.

The 18-year-old male driver from Mistawsis was arrested for possession of stolen property and impaired driving, as he failed a breathalyzer test.

The 16-year-old passenger from Prince Albert is charged with possession of stolen property, and two breaches of court orders.

Both suspects will make their first appearances in provincial court today.

Sunday at roughly 4:30 p.m., patrol officers saw a person driving known to have outstanding warrants. Officers stopped the vehicle in the 600 Block of 17 St. W. Two other people were also in the vehicle.

The vehicle had an expired license plate and was towed and impounded. A black backpack was seized containing a sawed off shotgun, shotgun shells and three small baggies of methamphetamine, two grams in total.

 Two men, ages 23 and 40, are charged with firearms related offenses, while a 17-year-old passenger is also charged with obstructing a peace officer by providing a false name, and unlawful possession of methamphetamine.

Early this morning officers were dispatched to a break-and-enter in progress in the 100 Block 20th St. E. An officer searched the back alley and found a suspect a short distance away in a shed.

The 19-year-old suspect from Prince Albert is charged with break and enter and trespassing. He will make their first appearance in provincial court today.
