Long-gun owners waiting to hear news on registry

The owner of a Regina gun store says customers want to know when the federal government doing away with the long-gun registry.

Darryl Schemenauer says he's been told it will happen soon into the fall session.

“We thought it was No. 1 on the agenda for the government getting its majority was the gun control. That was one of the reasons they got in.”

Schemenauer says customers have been asking when it will be scrapped.

“We are running a little bit thin. We would like this gone more than anybody. The work that we have to do, the extras that no one sees behind the scenes. The registry system is really unbelievable,” he said.

Although he wants to see the registry gone, he is willing to wait just a little longer to see that it's done properly.
